Every time the Expert Council of the Central Health Care Protection Committee consults, it requests approval from the General Secretary for the treatment plan and the use of care techniques, and he always says "comply".

General Secretary has never been annoyed with the care of medical staff, always persistently treated and strictly followed the instructions of the care team," Major General Le Huu Song, Director of Military Central Hospital 108 (Hanoi), shared about the years of participating in treatment and health care for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Positive energy spreads to every healthcare worker.

With the healthcare workers here, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a humble, approachable, simple, humorous leader who devotes his whole heart and mind to the work for the Party, for the country, for the people until the last moments of his life.

With them, the period of over 4 years taking care of the General Secretary has brought valuable lessons to each person. Sharing about taking care of the General Secretary in the final days, the medical staff of the 108 Military Central Hospital still feel grateful and touched.

Professor Le Huu Song said that to take care of the General Secretary's health, the Central Protection Committee for Health Care invited domestic and foreign medical experts to consult and come up with the best treatment plan.

All medical staff here have a special affection for the General Secretary as a grandfather, father, and close relative in the family.

After each meeting of the Central Health Care Protection Council, please pass on the treatment plan, the use of care techniques to the General Secretary, and the General Secretary always says 'comply'. Major General Le Huu Song remembers.

During the treatment process, despite feeling tired, General Secretary always tries his best, step by step, to recover his health. There are times when he is exhausted, but he still tries to follow the standards to maintain his health and continue working.

The efforts of the General Secretary inspire the hospital staff to work even harder in their jobs.

With respect and admiration as a doctor towards a special patient, Major General Le Huu Song confides that the General Secretary is a close and humble person.

Especially, in the last days of declining health, the General Secretary still maintains a high level of work intensity. According to the director of Military Central Hospital 108, although the General Secretary's health has been predicted, the expert council is still very surprised by his work capacity.

"That impression makes us feel very small. The General Secretary has transmitted energy to us to continue striving even more," Professor Song shared.

As the person directly responsible for taking care of the General Secretary for many years, Associate Professor Nguyen Phuong Dong, Department of Central Protection and Care, Military Central Hospital 108, confided that despite the declining health condition, the General Secretary still maintains his work schedule.

From around 9 am to 9:30 am, the General Secretary listens to the assistants and secretaries reporting on the work situation. From after 10:30 am and in the afternoon, he spends time meeting with Party and State leaders. When he feels well, the General Secretary sits down to read and study documents.

"You work until your last breath. On July 13th, you were still working but in the afternoon we had to put you on a ventilator." In the final moments, knowing that we couldn't save him, we felt like we were about to lose a father, a loved one, many people cried," said PGS Dong.

"The special patient" is simple and close.

Officials and medical staff at the 108 Military Central Hospital share that they not only have the honor of taking care of patients but also have the opportunity to learn many things from the General Secretary every day.

Hospital staff always hold deep affection and respect for the General Secretary, and at any time, we also receive valuable lessons from him. He is always close, responsible, and resilient in overcoming health difficulties to dedicate himself... This is a great lesson to help us have more motivation, energy, and determination in the high-level healthcare leadership career of the Party, State, and military; taking care of people's health, worthy of a humble person like the General Secretary," Major General Le Huu Song shared.

According to the sharing of the doctors directly taking care of the General Secretary, he always coordinates, complies with treatment, and is satisfied and reassured with the level of expertise, intelligence, and dedication of the medical team at the hospital.

It is a great honor for nurses to directly care for the General Secretary for about 4-5 years, Lieutenant Colonel, nurse Nguyen Thi Hong is always impressed by him.

"He is a simple and sincere role model, caring about the lives of his colleagues in the department, always empathizing with the hardships of nurses and doctors. When he meets us, the General Secretary always asks about how our children are doing in school, how old they are, and if they have any difficulties... "When sitting by the river or walking along the corridor of the faculty, you always talk cheerfully," nurse Hong confided.

Nurse Nguyen Thi Hong recounted that the General Secretary is always humorous, sharing about simple love, about times riding a bike on the dike... In the afternoon, when sitting on the relaxing chair placed outside the corridor, looking out at the Red River, he often recites funny poems about love: "Missing someone, always like this/ Remembering the night forgetting to sleep, remembering the day forgetting to eat". Sometimes you talk about current affairs, sometimes it's funny and relaxing stories, and sometimes you read a few lines of poetry about landscapes and life. You also often share about the difficulties and hardships of healthcare workers.

I admire the extraordinary work ethic of the General Secretary. Nurse Hong said that he hardly has much time to rest. When he wakes up, besides the time for drinking morning tea and exercising, the General Secretary spends time reading newspapers, working, and receiving guests. When he feels tired, he will request to take a rest.

I feel honored and lucky to sit next to the General Secretary at every meal. "When he eats, we encourage him to eat more for his health. Even if he reduces the amount of rice or food in his portion, he always finishes the yogurt because it is his favorite food," Nurse Hong confided.

The female nurse also shared that the General Secretary really likes eating peanut candy. There is always a jar of candy on his desk.

In addition to work, during early morning and evening exercise, when walking along the hospital corridor, the General Secretary enjoys singing "The Song of Bac Son". At that time, the medical staff on duty all join in and sing a few lines together: "Bac Son, a place far from the old school, Bac Son, here is a mountainous battlefield...", the atmosphere fills the hallway.

The flexible legs that used to exercise every day can no longer take another step, but that song still echoes in the memory and heart of each officer directly caring for the General Secretary.

The departure of the General Secretary has left all the medical staff at the 108 Military Central Hospital deeply saddened, many of whom have burst into tears. Everyone feels as if they have lost a father, a close relative. For the doctors here, the impression of a leader who is "down-to-earth, approachable, humble, humorous, and wholeheartedly dedicated to the Party, the country, and the people until the last moments of life" will always remain.
